Victor (Japan) / c. 1955

back next

Design: A colourful collage of instruments on an extended music staff, providing an interesting and lively image that is quite different from the usual black-and gold North American Victor labels. The imprinting is mostly in the Roman alphabet, suggesting that the main customers were probably American post-war service personnel.

History: Victor was active in Japan since the late 1920s. Label scan courtesy of music researcher and collector Daniel Beller of Israel.
