Design: The label is separated into three distinct and unusually-arranged segments by a thorn-shaped device. The vertically-oriented areas below the label name allow only a couple of words per line, creating many line breaks, while the label name, a short word, has width to spare. The label name lettering is written in a nervous-looking script which does not quite capture the feeling of dynamic liveliness which the name suggests.
History: Verve Records was founded as a jazz label in 1956 by Norman Granz, and is now owned by the Universal Music Group (Wikipedia). Label scan courtesy of collector Kjell Thorsen of Norway.
