Tell Record

Tell Record (Switzerland) / c. 1957

Design: A beautiful piece of calligraphy of the highest artistic quality, based on steel-nib pen lettering. The delicate (feminine) swashes and curves are given stability by their being positioned over a thick, straight (masculine) line crossing the centre (note the similar design concept on both the Savel and S&G labels).

History: Label scan courtesy of collector and musicologist Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K., who notes that the label is named for the famous Swiss folk hero William Tell, and that the orchestral arrangement is by Lanigiro, a famous Swiss dance band whose name in reverse reads 'Original.'
