Design: The saxophone illustration and the label name lettering are well matched in line weight and style, with the spindle hole cleverly serving as the horn of the instrument.

History: According to, the Sittin' In With label was founded in 1948 by music producer brothers Morty and Bob Shad. Starting out with jazz releases, the label went on to feature high-quality southern blues and R&B. After Sittin' In With folded in 1953, Morty Shad went on to found the Jax label, which featured very similar graphic imagery and content. Label scan courtesy of collector and musicologist Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
