Design: A very attractive design, which obviously derives its basic format from the Clifford label of Australia from the 1920s (right). The label name logo features flowing swashes suggestive of waves, as does the scalloped border to the white panel on which the logo sits. It even features typesetting in Cheltenham, a popular period typeface. The warm tones of the chocolate brown, orange and red colour combination is very attractive.
History: Founded in 2004 by pianist Bryan S. Wright, the Rivermont label, located in Lynchburg, Virginia, specializes in quality reissues of hard-to-find vintage jazz (though Andy Schumm and his Flatland Gang is a contemporary 'traditional' jazz band), mostly through online CD sales. This record is probably unique among 78 rpm labels in advertising 'stereo' reproduction. Label scan courtesy of musicologist and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
