Reo (Canada) / 1955

back next

Design: A 'clean' design, with a distorted music note containing the label name on a music staff at the top, leaving plenty of room for credit info.

History: Thanks to Ron Hall, author of The CHUM Chart Book, who kindly supplied the following info: "Reo Records was a Quality label that [along with Quality King, Regency and Delta] was mainly an outlet for American releases. The numbering system started in early 1955 at #8001 (Pat Boone's 'Two Hearts') and ran through #9039 in early 1970. It is interesting to note that Fats Domino's 'Ain't It A Shame' (Imperial 5348) was Reo 8026 and Pat Boone's corrected grammar version, 'Ain't That A Shame' (Dot 15377) was Reo 8027."
