Polskie Nagrania

Polskie Nagrania (Poland) / c. 1956

back next

Design: A restrained label design using very small sizes of lettering, yet which remains quite clear and legible, the aggressive shapes of the crowing rooster breaking the outer ring and drawing the eye down into the label name.

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Lucyna Lachowicz of Poland. After privately-owned labels were nationalized and their stock absorbed into the Muza (Muse) state-owned label, the Muza name is here downplayed (appearing in reverse in the panel across the middle), perhaps a sign of Poland emerging from the shadows of Communist Russian influence.
