Mercury Childcraft 2

Mercury Childcraft (Canada) / c. 1956

back next

Design: A lively, professionally-drawn illustration of a pair of smartly-dressed children (a doll sits at centre) playing with a variety of toys, and surrounded by the sounds of music (presumably issuing from an unseen record player).

History: Launched in Chicago in 1945, the Mercury label was bought out by the European giant Philips in 1961. Evidently a Canadian release via the Ontario-based Quality record company. Record courtesy of Cecelia and John Wilson of Canada.
