Design: A rather strange symmetrical logo using sans serif letterforms, with a fish-hook-tailed lowercase 'j' inserted between capitals for the rest of the label name. The Spanish word 'majar' means 'pestle' in English; whether that fact bore any influence on the design is not immediately obvious. The use of the word 'Disc' is unusual for a label name; perhaps it was chosen for visual balance, being shorter than the much more commonly used 'Records.' Denise Lor (b. 1929) is an American singer and actress whose major hit record was If I Give My Heart To You, 1954; Joe Candullo was a bandleader who made many recordings over a long career from the 1920s into the 1950s.
