Lyra (Colombia) / c. 1955

back next

Design: The label name (presumably referring to the musical instrument the lyre) is drawn in an extrabold roman serif font with an unusual (contrasting) ultra-fine sans-serif inline, and carrying an attractive underline swash from the initial L (the main vertical stroke of which seems to be too thin; optically, being taller, it should have been incrementally heavier than the other letters). The lettering around the outer perimeter is well-spaced and the imprinting understated but carefully done.

History: Unknown (have info? Please send to Label scan courtesy of collector John Anderson of the U.S.A.
