Design: The chunky wood-lettering style font used for the word 'Calypso' is Matura, designed in 1938 by the Hungarian lettering artist Imre Reiner. The bright yellow background effectively suggests a sunny climate.

History: Label scan courtesy of musicologist and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K., who notes: "These records were made by West Indian artists living in London mainly for the ethnic West Indian community, but were also available to the general public."
