History: Norman Granz was a Jewish-American promoter who had a passion for jazz, taking it to new levels of public respect through his promotion of live concerts at the Philharmonic. He launched the Clef label in 1946, the Norgran label in 1953, and Verve in 1956. Label scan courtesy of jazzologist and collector Dave Dixon of Canada.
