Design: The label name is typeset in an Art Deco font named Broadway, a sans serif with extremely thick verticals and thin horizontals, the original of which was designed in 1927; this variant with a thin inline, known as Broadway Engraved, followed in 1928. The horizontal thick-and-thin line (known as an 'Oxford rule') which crosses the label matches the font. The amount of ink needed for single-pass press coverage on the heavy areas is too much for the smaller type sizes, which have been swamped.
History: Unknown (have info? Please send to email@example.com). Fergus Sherlock (1933-2009) was a well-known professional tenor singer. Label scan courtesy of collector and musicographer Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
