Fonit 1

Fonit (Italy) / c. 1955

back next

Design: A modernistic approach to label design (Italian design in the 50s was very advanced), the overlapping curved lines suggesting of the edge of a record. Plenty of room is left for the credit info. The 'Fonit' logo (presumably taken from 'Fonodisco Italiano') features a couple of odd letterforms. The serif at the upper arm of the 'F' echoes the curve of one of the shaded areas; the 't' also features a swooping curve.

History: Unknown (have info? Please send to info.re.78s@shaw.ca). Label scan courtesy of collector Dimitar Malchev of Bulgaria.
