Design: The label name appears in a type style called 'Latin,' which features triangular, sharply-pointed serifs; it was first introduced in the late Victorian era, being frequently used as a large-scale 'display' font on letterpress posters printed with wood type. The treatment of flat solid areas and reversed type, exploiting the freedom from hot-metal limitations becoming available to designers in the 1950s through the more general use of the lithographic printing process, is evident here.

History: Label scan courtesy of musicologist and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
