Design: A nice piece of brush lettering, in which the artwork does not appear to have been retouched, the rough paper leaving rough edges and open areas.
History: Esquire was formed by Carlo Krahmer and Peter Newbrook to promote British jazz in 1947. Esquire began as a record club, records only being available through mail order. Almost immediately, the company made a deal with American record companies Prestige Records and Dial Records to reissue their albums in England (thanks to Robert Stürtz for the link to www.rateyourmusic.com).
