Emarvi (U.S.A. ethnic) / c. 1958

Design: The label name 'logo' lettering is unorthodox in that some horizontal serifs are thick while other are thin, and the leg of the R swells from thin to thick while all the other strokes are even in weight; apparently an effort to create a unique lettering 'footprint.' The heraldic shield above is in a more traditional vein, the two images being graphically very far apart.

History: Obviously the label name 'Emarvi' is based on the pronunciation of the initials 'MRV,' and seems to be aimed at a Spanish-speaking segment of the U.S. population. Label scan courtesy of collector and musicologist Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
