Discos Crest

Discos Crest (U.S.A. ethnic) / c. 1952

back next

Design: The label name evidently refers to an heraldic crest, which has unfortunately been partly torn away, and partly obscured by a sticker, but one of the quarterings shows one of the smiling/frowning masks associated with theatre, while the other quarterings show music notes. The outer 'border' in the upper segment is a loose rendering of the 'mantling' surrounding a heraldic shield, with the label name being very well lettered in a calligraphic Gothic style.

History: Unknown (have info? Please send to info.re.78s@shaw.ca). Label scan courtesy of collector Owen Burgess of Canada.
