Decca (Canada) / 1950

Design: Art Deco influence lingers in this design, with its machine-cut indentation into the circle, contrasted by the script lettering of the heading. The blue and gold colour combination used by Compo for all their pressings.

History: Launched in England in 1929, Decca came to the U.S. in 1934. It soon became a major player by virtue of excellent quality of artists signed. After introducing the LP in 1949, followed by the 45 rpm, Decca cut down on the number of 78s being released, and by 1958 had stopped issuing them altogether. Decca was bought out by MCA in the early 1970s.
