Columbia 5

Columbia (India) / c. 1958

Design: The Columbia double notes are well-placed either side of the main line. Although the same format as the U.S. Columbia label, the fat, blobby serifs are here sharpened down, while the outer border is slightly heavier. The small upper panel carries an evocative image of a desert scene, mirrored either side of a snarling Bengal tiger.

History: Thanks for info to Lum Kat (Justin) Theing, who notes that this record label appeared in the late 1950s.
