Design: The illustration shows Romulus and Remus, mythological illegitimate offspring of the war-god Mars, being suckled by a she-wolf after being abandoned to their fate. Eventually, the boys were adopted by a shepherd; Romulus is supposed to have founded the city of Rome, bestowing his name upon it. The inside of the lower segment is decorated with an Attic (Greek) ornamental pattern.
History: Label scan courtesy of collector Luca Barzaghi of Italy, who notes that the Italian company Cetra, which concerned itself with operatic works, reissued German Polydor records. Cetra lasted into the 1960s.
