Design: The silhouetted 'hep cats' are jiving to the sounds of The Chords (at first called the Chordcats), a black harmony group who introduced new vocal dynamics in their song 'Sh-Boom,' which became an even bigger hit when re-recorded by a white group, the Crew Cuts. The heading font shows the type of styling often seen on cars of the period. The playing time is shown, presumably for the benefit of radio DJs.

History: A subsidiary of Atlantic Records, launched in April 1954 to catch the growing wave of interest in the new music phenomenon dubbed 'rock'n'roll.'
