Bruce Record Co. (U.S.A.) / 1955

back next

Design: A very tentative assembly of type, with the label name appearing in a middling size of Bodoni Modern (and not even a bold weight, at that). The silver on a solid colour background became a very popular trend during the 1950s.

History: The Bruce label was a very small New York operation that never enjoyed chart success, but was the first to record the legendary Harp-Tones, one of the best doo-wop groups of the 1950s; their records are now highly sought after. Label scan courtesy of collector Ken Hagelthorn of the U.S.A.
