Balkantone (Bulgaria) / c. 1951

Design: Obviously the identical design to the Radioprom label (right), but with a different label name.

History: Following WWII, in 1947, Bulgaria became a Communist state, within the political orbit of the USSR. This was the only record label to survive the elimination of privately-owned industry, its output being strictly supervised by the Soviet-style government. Label scan courtesy of collector and musicologist Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
