Design: The illustration shows Broadcasting House, the headquarters of the BBC, in Portland Place, London, which was built in 1932.
History: Label scan courtesy of collector Georg Richter of Germany, who contacted collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K. for details, and received this reply: "These records were made for the exclusive use of the BBC, not just in London but at all their regional branches. They may also have been sold to overseas broadcasting systems especially in Commonwealth/Empire countries. I know of no way in which a recording date can be given for then ones you have, except to say that they must be from before the 1960s as they are both 78s. The BBC also produced records, including 16" transcription discs, of music that were used both internally and overseas. However, I don't know how to date these either. The BBC may still have the original written records but whether or not they could be bothered to answer any query you may put to them is open to question."
