Design: The yin-yang shape can be seen on other contemporary labels (e.g. Specialty). The fat-face ultra-bold 'modern' font used for the label name, overlapping the shiny record, is a style that achieved sudden popularity in the 1940s; the metallic silver and blue colour combination also became popular (e.g. Sacred).
History: Label scan courtesy of collector Georg Richter of Germany, who notes that the Universal Recording Corp., which was founded in 1946 in Chicago, started issuing records in 1947.
