Design: The standard Telefunken pie-shaped design, incorporating the well-known logo made up of electrical flashes pointing in four directions. Note the censorship approval imprint (centre right).

History: Telefunken, a corporate entity formed in 1903 in Berlin, had a long history as suppliers of innovative elecrical and electronic devices and systems for military purposes. Record-manufacturing was only a very small division of its corporate interests, which included radio, TV, power tools, transmitters, computers etc. Label scan courtesy of collector Georg Richter of Germany, who writes: "Shortly after WWII, all records manufactured in Germany were subject to scrutiny by a censureship board to suppress any Nazi content (the title shown was actually recorded in November 1941). In those times, when raw materials were scarce, some labels -- such as this one -- were printed on inferior-quality stock."
