Tara (U.S.A. ethnic) / c. 1949

Design: Tara, a hill site in Ireland, is known in folk lore as the place where the kings of Ireland were crowned in ancient times. The harp is a recognized symbol of Irish culture. Uncial lettering, with its widely rounded shapes, would also have been typically Celtic, yet the vertical, open-spaced Gothic lettering displayed here echoes the shape of the harp.

History: Unknown (have info? Please send to info.re.78s@shaw.ca). Label scan courtesy of collector and musicologist Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
