Design: A very ordinary label with undistinguished typography. Probably the market approach was that collectors would buy, no matter what the visual appeal.
History: Label scan courtesy of collector Georg Richter of Germany, who writes: "This label was introduced by U.S. Columbia in mid-1948 for the collector's market business. The plan was for four releases each month, retailing for $1 each. It is unknown why the anachronistic 'American Record Corporation' was used. Record numbers from 5001 to 5018 are known (probably the series came to an end because collectors were not satisfied by the poor quality of the pressing)."
