Sonovox (Italy) / c. 1949

back next

Design: An unusual arrangement in that the label name/logo appears at the foot instead of the more usual upper part of the label, and the song title in the upper segment instead of below the spindle hole. Also very unusual is the snazzy positive/negative treatment applied to the distinctive-looking logo (seen also on the Muza label from the same period), showing faith in the technical competence of the printing industry. Very neat typography throughout.

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Luca Barzaghi of Italy, who notes that Sonovox was a small label based in Turin, Italy and was active between about 1948 and 1955.
