Signature (U.S.A.) / c. 1948

Design: The design seen on the previous page has been updated, with unusual perspective treatment for the main heading, like the much earlier Artista and Odeon labels of the 1920s, and some copperplate script flourishes to add interest.

History: Collector Dave Dixon of Canada writes: "Signature was owned throughout its entire existence by record producer Bob Thiele. It started in the early 1940s as a jazz specialty label but soon grew into a label with nationwide distribution and in the postwar years expanded into the pop music field."
