Services Calling (U.K.) / 1943

Design: The outer stroboscopic band (which would appear to be stationary while the record was turning when playing at the correct speed) is a major feature here. The label name lettering shows a form of casual brush script lettering with convex or ragged-ended strokes.

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Georg Richter of Germany, who writes: The 'Services Calling' label was a British-produced label for [overseas] radio programs to provide troops with their own and foreign recordings during WWII. This particular record, featuring the Royal Air Force Dance Orchestra, was produced by ENSA (The Entertainments National Service Association) in 1943, and was manufactured by the British Gramophone Co. Ltd."
