Roy Milton

Roy Milton (U.S.A.) / c. 1946

Design: A cartoon illustration and unorthodox hand-drawn lettering make this a 'different' label. Roy Milton was a rhythm and blues singer who achieved quite a bit of success in the late 1940s and early 1950s with his own band. Note the spelling of 'Rainey Day,' whether this was intentional or a mistake is unknown.

History: Evidently a self-produced item, probably sold at live shows, as Milton's band did a great deal of touring. Label scan courtesy of collector and musicologist Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
