Design: Strong graphics and strong typography for the label name, both with vertical emphasis.
History: Thanks for updated info to collector Dave Dixon of Canada, who writes: "The 'Metro Hollywood' label was not part of the Asch group [as previously suggested]. This label (and the subsequent 'Rex Hollywood' label) emanated from a record store owner in Los Angeles in 1948 or 1949. I was in his store trying to find out what else was on the label but he got really nasty about my enquiries, so I began to get the idea that maybe he was indeed a bootlegger, and took me for an investigator! Any label similarity to Asch [compare with Disk, as previously noted] must be because he stole the design. I heard later that the legal department of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, which had an MGM records label of their own, threatened him with legal action, so he pasted 'Rex' labels over existing 'Metro' stock (I had one such paste-over in my collection)."
