Design: The layout follows the basic template of the Sonora label (by whom this record was manufactured), with a bowl-shaped lower segment containing the imprinting. The artist is pictured wearing the traditional clothing of the Sami people, a nomadic group roaming the northern parts of Sweden, Norway, Russia and Finland, whose cultural heritage she claimed. The label name is freely lettered in a bold calligraphic script, crowning a well-balanced and attractive design.
History: Label scan courtesy of collector Georg Richter of Germany, who writes: "This is the personal label of Anna-Lisa (Vikström) Öst (1889-1974), a Christian gospel singer and recording artist known professionally as 'Lapp-Lisa.' She had a wide following in her native Sweden and among Swedish immigrants to North America during the 1940s and 1950s."
