Gospel Herald

Gospel Herald (U.S.A. ethnic) / c. 1949

back next

Design: The illustration in the upper segment shows a winged angel dressed in a long flowing robe (possibly the fourth of seven angels proclaiming a series of woes, as described in the apocalyptic Book of Revelation) blowing a trumpet against a backdrop of clouds and rays of the sun, its light in the process of becoming darkened by one third (Rev. 8:12).

History: The label, aimed at a Swedish ethnic market in the U.S., is evidently of Swedish origin (see the parent company Hemmets Harold or 'Home Herald'). Label scan courtesy of musicologist and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
