Gong 1

Gong (Poland) / c. 1946

back next

Design: A well-balanced, symmetrical design, the upper segment showing a pair of Greek (Spartan?) warriors wearing crested helmets pounding a large brass gong, with a banner bearing the label name superimposed. To the left is a logo with the letters Z M S (?) combined, the meaning unknown. The fonts used for the imprinting seem to be of a rather old-fashioned nature.

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Lucyna Lachowicz of Poland, who notes that this Krakow-based label dates from the immediate post-WWII era, and that this design was probably its earliest version.
