Design: The lettering of the 'Austria' inside the shield is made into that of the eagle, the heraldic symbol of the German empire appearing on coinage as early as the 12th century. The crossbow image below it speaks of legendary marksman William Tell, whose skill with the weapon sparked a 14th-century rebellion against the Habsburg dynasty and led to the formation of the Old Swiss Confederacy, the precursor of modern-day Switzerland. A white background is unusual for 78 rpm records, with no gold or silver ink.
History: Collector Hubert notes: "Turicaphone had a recording studio in Vienna and in your example the musicians are Austrians. Turicaphon closed down in 1991."
