Den Norske Grammofon

Den Norske Grammofon (Norway) / c. 1943

back next

Design: A sparse-looking design prominently featuring crossed Norwegian flags, and printed in dark blue on white using an Art Deco typeface with extremes of thick and thin strokes, which echoes the weight of the crosses on the flags and the outer border.

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Kjell Thorsen of Norway, who notes: "The title of the record is "Gave fra den norske regjering" (translation: "Gift from the Norwegian Goverment"), but what the content is about is unknown to me. As noted on the label, it was produced by Star Sound Studios of London, England. The exact date of issue is unknown, but most likely it dates from the early 1940s."
