Damon (U.S.A.) / 1948

Design: The lettering style of the label name logo seems to derive from the 1920s, with an underlining (and overlining) swash. The left-leaning script lettering beneath the end of the logo ('Damon Recording Studios') is very unusual, and is in visual conflict with the angle of the lettering above.

History: Founded in 1948 and headquartered in Kansas City, Damon Recording Studios employed musicians who were not part of the American Federation of Musicians; this track evidently celebrates those who defied the second recording ban of 1948 (the first having lasted between 1942 and 1944), both strikes having been ordered by union leader James Petrillo.
