Design: This evocative design shows an eagle carrying a record in its beak, with the rugged Balkan mountains in the background. Cyrillic lettering is used throughout, with the label name in a 'Latin' style, featuring triangular serifs.
History: Label scans courtesy of collector Dimitar Malchev of Bulgaria, who notes: "Balkan was a Bulgarian record factory founded in the late 1930s. Except for the occupation period between 1945 and 1947, the label remained unchanged. After nationalization in 1947, and the alterations made to different state-issued labels in the 1950s, the 'Balkantone' factory became the only Bulgarian firm producing vinyl records, from the 1960s until 1990."
