Allegro Junior

Allegro Junior (U.S.A.) / c. 1949

Design: 'Allegro' is a musical term meaning 'cheerful' or 'brisk,' and this simple and direct typographic design in bright colours (perhaps a children's label?) lives up to its name. The all-lowercase label name is set in a large-scale chunky broad-pen-based font with sharply-cut angular Gothic characteristics, which is very effective in arresting the eye.

History: Label scan courtesy of musicologist and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K., who notes that this label was in existence only between 1948 and 1949.
