Design: A dramatic and beautiful silhouette of a female leaping through the air effectively illustrates the story of this series.

History: Mary Bagot Stack (1883-1935) founded the highly successful Women's League of Health and Beauty in 1930; her 20-year-old daughter Prunella (1914-2008) took over its leadership after Mary's death. The League promoted deep breathing and rhythmic exercise routines, much like the current fads of Pilates and yoga. Produced by the Linguaphone Institute, which is still active. Label scan courtesy of musicologist and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
