Vocalion 3

Vocalion (U.S.A.) / c. 1939

Design: The label name lettering is the only surviving element of the Victorian Gothic original (see the 1920s label).

History: Launched in 1918, Vocalion was sold to Brunswick in 1924, to Warner Bros. in 1930, CBC in 1938, back to Brunswick and finally to Decca. Thanks for updated info to collector Dave Dixon of Canada, who writes: "By 1940 all Vocalions still in the catalogue in the U.S. were reissued with OKeh labels as the rights to the Vocalion name reverted to U.S. Decca. Decca never issued 78s with a Vocalion name but came out with a budget line of Vocalion LPs in the early 1950s."
