Teitiku 2

Teitiku (Japan) / c. 1938

Design: A very beautiful and delicate design which because of the thin engraved-type ornamentation has a Victorian-era feel, the label name being set in a nineteenth-century Latin (triangular-shaped serif) font which was developed by the engraving industry for use on bank-notes etc. The outer border is a very nicely-arranged thick-and-thin ('Oxford') design both organic and geometric in character.

History: The Teikoku Gramophone Co. of Nara, Japan was founded in 1935; the corporate label name of 'Taichiku' was later changed to 'Teitiku,' as here.
