Speedway Stars

Speedway Stars (U.K.) / c. 1939

back next

Design: A unusual double bar arrangement for the label name, with stars scattered across. A very strong and effective design, with the star's signature well displayed across the middle. Motorcycle speedway racing was extremely popular in the 1940s, Norman Parker being one of the most recognizable names in the sport.

History: Levy's Sound Studios also issued the Levaphone and Oriole labels. Label scan courtesy of music researcher and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
