Singala (Belgium) / c. 1930

Design: The hard-edged blocks of type contrast with the softly-airbrushed images, echoing the masculine versus feminine (or love versus war) theme of the movie itself.

History: Evidently a promotional item for a movie about a woman and her soldier sweetheart in the Hussar regiment. Label scan courtesy of musicologist and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K., who notes that the credits on this one-sided label are in French and Flemish, but the band is German, so it was probably made in Germany.
