Silverton 1

Silverton (Germany) / c. 1937

back next

Design: The design shows much of the influence of the Art Deco style, with ultrabold stylized machine-cut lettering for the label name with exaggerated ascenders (the 'l' and 't' bleeding off the edge -- see also the contemporary Woolco label) arranged over a rising sun (rainbow?). Appropriately, the printing is metallic silver on a solid blue. Whether or not the label had any connexion to the Silvertone label from the U.K. is unknown.

History: Unknown (have info? Please send to info.re.78s@shaw.ca). Image courtesy of collector Georg Richter of Germany.
