Peacock (U.K.) / c. 1934

back next

Design: A very attractive design on this rare label, featuring a peacock displaying its distinctive tail feathers. The label name is lettered in a transitional style, somewhere between the smoothly-flowing logos of the 1920s and the angular, geometric stylings of the 1950s, which would soon be appearing on car bodies.

History: Label scan courtesy of music researcher and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K., who notes: "Made by Decca Record Co. for Peacock's Stores. Used masters from ARC, Decca, Winner, Brunswick (USA) and Vocalion (USA)."
