Patria 2

Patria Ultravox (Germany) / 1939

Design: A complete departure from the previous design, without a curved line in sight. The influence of 1930s avant-garde art movements such as Cubism were soon translated into commercial graphic art, featuring (as here) multiple alignments, solid and shaded areas, reversed type, dingbats and extreme contrasts in type sizes.

History: As the previous page. Label scan courtesy of music researcher and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
